Alcohol is still our country’s most used and abused addictive substance. Roughly, 17.6 million people, or one in every 12 adults, struggle with alcohol abuse or dependence. Alcohol use is dangerous to both our youth and adult population. In the United States the abuse of alcohol is commonly correlated with traffic accidents and fatalities, abuse and neglect, relationship violence, suicidal and homicidal thoughts, education and employment problems, financial issues, and unsafe sex and unexpected pregnancies.
