This is the “goodbye” letter that a mother wrote to the addiction that almost destroyed her son:
Before I was even born, you robbed me of my father’s parents and his only sister; my grandparents; and my aunt. I never had the chance to know them because of you, and a person who enjoyed way too much of your company.
You robbed me of family members during my childhood. But I never thought you’d be so involved in my adult life!
Then you were introduced to my son. Not by his father and I – but that isn’t really the point.
The point is that you made him think you were there for him. You made him think that you understood him. You made him believe that you and you alone relieved his stress, comforted him, and gave him back his self-worth.
Because you distort reality……..
